General Electric won a position on a potential $409 million contract with the U.S. Air Force to research and develop thermal, power, and control systems for aircraft engines and airframes. The Air Force awarded the first spot under the NGT-PAC contract to Lockheed Martin in late June and added Northrop Grumman and United Technologies Corp.‘s Pratt and Whitney subsidiary to the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract earlier this month. The Department of Defense said the Next Generation Thermal, Power, and Controls program is a multi-agency and industry effort that seeks to expand knowledge and understanding of future power, thermal and controls requirements.
