In this webinar, BGOV Senior Data Analyst Paul Murphy and Director of Mid-Tier Advocacy Tonya Saunders explored the achievements and perils of federal vendors that no longer qualify for small business preferences but that lack the deep pockets enabling large firms to take on big, complex projects. While BGOV’s contract data suggests a record of steady achievement by mid-tier firms some troubling signs appear. Declining average annual contract revenues and restrictive solicitation criteria on large contracts like Alliant 2 suggest that mid-tier firms may be stagnating in a federal market “no man’s land” and getting locked out of opportunities that would enable them to continue growing.
