A new McKinsey report finds that governments around the world could save $3.5 trillion by improving the effectiveness and efficiency of their spending. McKinsey analyzed spending in 42 countries, and found four primary areas where governments could save money if they improved their effectiveness: finance, commercial, digital technology and data analytics, and talent management. The report goes well beyond procurement, looking how efficiency and effectiveness in health care spending can be a huge driver of cost savings.
