The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union of federal employees wrote a letter to Congress, is asking lawmakers to require the Department of Defense to “improve the oversight and management for the vast sums it spends so carelessly on contracted services.” “Anything less is handing a blank check to the Pentagon to waste [money] on contracted services,” the union president’s writes. The letter follows a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that recommended creating more detailed long-term projections in spending on services.
