Chief Executive of Highways England, Jim O’Sullivan, has revealed the highways body is looking at new ways to award work based on contractor performance as part of its new procurement model. We read in New Civil Engineer that contractors could be judged by the client on how well a scheme is delivered, added value, efficiency and value for money, in the new approach. Earlier this year details emerged on how Highways England will procure work on the UK’s roads when the £5bn Collaborative Delivery Framework ends next year. A new contractor panel Routes to Market will create lots by contract size, and will use a region-by-region approach.
