The Estonian Defence Forces (EDF), Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) and Ministry of Justice have nine qualified tenderers for the procurement of new automatic firearms. Terms and conditions will be provided by the end of the year. Tenders will be submitted in the first quarter of 2018, then a framework agreement covering a seven-year period will be concluded with the winner. 11,000 automatic firearms are to be purchased from 2018-2021 and the contract must allow for up to an additional 18,000 automatic firearms until 2024. The budget is anticipated at €75 million, making it one of Estonia’s biggest armament contracts of the next ten years. The full details are on ERR.ee
