In Voices for Transparency this week, articles and opinion from the anti-corruption movement curated by Transparency International, there is an interesting article called ‘Is business ready to crack open public contracts?’ It discusses the B20 (the voice of the international business community in G20 countries) communiqué which, it says, includes a number of positive recommendations related to the principles of open contracting. It goes on to examine these, including this one: “The B20 recommends enhancing integrity and transparency in public procurement with a focus on infrastructure projects. This implies a clear recognition of the role of open contracting in addressing the corruption risks throughout the public procurement process and seeks to establish incentives for companies to adhere to high standards of integrity.” Well worth a read – which you can do here.
