At a recent conference focusing on Ireland becoming a climate leader, IDA (the agency responsible for the attraction and retention of inward foreign direct investment into Ireland) was encouraged to change its strategy to attract green companies. “The IDA should change its successful strategy in attracting foreign investment to highlight how Ireland is embracing climate actions, and providing opportunities for those wishing to decarbonise,” reports The Irish Times. “In addition, public procurement would need to change from taking the lowest cost option, to accepting the lowest carbon option,” said Dr Edward Cameron, a US-based who has advised governments on how best to respond to climate issues.
