At the Health Care Supply Association summer conference, the HCSA ran a very good article reflecting on NHS Procurement through time. The author, once National Director of NHS Procurement at the Department of Health, and Procurement Director of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, takes us through the decades of change in NHS Procurement. He outlines the 32 ‘centre-led’ reviews over 60 years, and wonders why so many witnessed so many failings. He exposes some of the reviews’ most common themes and shows how they became more sophisticated over the years, incorporating increasingly advanced recommendations. Then he wonders how different things could have been if only we could go back and reset one thing – a very thoughtful article – read a taster here with a link to the full article.
