Just out today – the UK Department of Health and Social Care has issued a letter to all suppliers about the continuity of supply of medicines and medical products from 31st October in the case of a no-deal EU exit. It also sets out how suppliers of those products to the UK can best prepare, including a ‘flexible approach to stockpiling and re-routing.’ The department will lead a procurement exercise to secure an ‘express freight service’. It will transport small medical supply consignments into the UK within 24 hours if the UK leaves the EU without a deal. This latest procurement activity forms part of the wider plan for minimising any supply disruption. Read about it here and the letter to suppliers here.
