The UK Ministry of Defence has plans to improve how it engages with the tech industry. It is setting up a new £1.5bn framework that will introduce a new mechanism to contracting technical skills. £300m a year will be spent over a three-to-five year period to select a number of suppliers onto a flexible delivery partner framework covering all the digital and IT capability required to deliver the department’s technology programmes and transformation strategy. The MoD plans to sign contracts with partners to supply temporary IT and digital workers with a pool of “strategic partners,” in July 2020. According to a notice, the new multi-lot framework will be established for use by all UK public sector bodies including all central government departments, executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies.
