Working with, not against, UK Government frameworks to better support digital transformation is the topic of this discussion. The UK Government framework for procuring cloud computing services, G-Cloud, has evolved significantly since its first release in 2012, but it is still an onerous task for SMEs. However, despite the framework’s shortcomings, this procurement model has been proved to be successful, and works. Crown Commercial Service has reported a £5.7 billion spend on G-Cloud to date and over 40% of that went to SMEs, so it is not going away anytime soon.
