GS1 UK is a community of more than 42,000 members working in areas such as retail, foodservice and healthcare. It is one of 115 independent, not-for-profit GS1 organisations operating across 150 countries worldwide. It helps everyone involved in making, moving and trading goods to automate and standardise their supply chain processes using the common language of GS1 global standards. GS1 standards have provided a common foundation for business since the first barcode was scanned over 40 years ago; there are now over 5 billion successful scans of a GS1 barcode every day.
This week GS1 UK announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with NHS Wales to drive the adoption of GS1 standards within healthcare settings across the UK.
