Bloomberg looks at a recommendation made by the Heritage Foundation, and reportedly under consideration by President Donald Trump, to merge the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contracting Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The publication notes that the recommendation follows a mandate from the White House to agencies to find internal efficiencies, though the “differences between the policy goals and legal authority of the Labor Department’s OFCCP and the EEOC make the two agencies less than a perfect fit.” The author reports a proposal to merge the two offices could come later this year.
