For the first time since Congress established the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in 2002, the House is looking to reauthorize the agency. The DHS Authorization Act of 2017 was reported out of the House Homeland Security Committee late last week. Much of the legislation has been voted on in pieces in the past, though most of the bill is designed to clarify lines of authority and to increase management efficiency.
