Yesterday marked the inaugural meeting of the Trump administration’s American Technology Council, as executives from some of America’s leading tech companies convened in the West Wing to “transform and modernize” federal IT and advise the president on tech policy. “We’re embracing big change, bold thinking, and outsider perspectives to transform government and make it the way it should be, and at far less cost,” said the president. In all, the meeting included four hours of working sessions focused on cloud computing, analytics, cybersecurity, and purchasing and contract reform, among others. In addition to 17 private sector leaders, the council includes 18 officials from various agencies of government.
