The recent CIO departures have Comptroller General Gene Dodaro worried about the road to IT acquisition reform. Back in 2015, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) added IT acquisition to the High-Risk list and Congress has since empowered CIOs to shape agency technology strategy and attempt to avoid risky investments. But with the recent onslaught of CIO departures along with a lack of appointed replacements by the Trump administration, GAO Comptroller General Gene Dodaro is slightly worried about the gains made for IT acquisition. “If people aren’t in place in senior management positions to manage that risk, that’s of concern to me,” he said.
