An Inspector General (IG) audit of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) handling of its 2012-2013 data center relocations found the agency’s failure to follow outlined steps in the plan resulted in possibly wasted funding. In addition, the IG concluded this failure also resulted in exposure of the first data provider to vulnerabilities, resulting in costs to reduce that exposure. The report recommended the SEC conduct a review of the 2012-2013 relocation to determine lessons learned.
