GSA RFI Explores DUNS Number Replacement

The General Services Administration (GSA) issued a request for information on the future of entity identification and validation services that could replace the expiring contract with Dun & Bradstreet, which expires next year. The government’s use of Dun & Bradstreet’s DUNS number as their procurement identifier has been the subject of some controversy. The Data Foundation and LexisNexis Risk Solutions wrote in a September 2017 report that the number’s proprietary nature has led to a more expensive monopoly in the space. However, Dun & Bradstreet believe the federal government will “continue to find value” in their services.This report lays out and discusses key practices in green, sustainable public procurement and supports each of these practices with rich country-level case studies. The key practices are individually and collectively informative and can also be applied at the individual public organization, regardless of level of government.
