When Philadelphia, the nation’s sixth most populous city, saw its translation costs increase 10 percent last year and project another 5-10% more this year, it knew it had a problem on its hands. So they did something about it, and used technology to save time and money by reusing duplicate translations across its departments. According to a report from SDL, a provider of translation services, at least 66% of a city’s translation projects are duplications, which creates an opportunity for public sector organizations to not only share within, but between other cities.
