The UK Government announced in 2015 it was replacing its emergency services communications network to provide an improved service across England, Scotland and Wales. It was supposed to generate savings or more than £200million a year by being more efficient and effective. But a significant delay out to as late as 2022, owing to “a long line of botched public-sector procurements,” is set to cost the public purse in the region of £1.2 billion.
