The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has set up no-fly zones for drones in various parts of the country for assorted reasons. However, drones have successfully joined in searches and just last week in North Carolina, one located an elderly woman after just 25 minutes of searching. The hope is that drone successes like the one in North Carolina will help to ease the resistance toward drones at the FAA. As progress, the agency released the B4UFLY mobile app this past summer that uses overlay maps to show drone restrictions across the country. Users can even file a flight plan with the app and will be notified if any special permissions are needed.
