Community Energy Labs (CEL) has announced a partnership with Tacoma Power, one of the Washington State Department of Commerce Clean Energy Fund award winners, on an innovative design for a community-centric microgrid which would aid the transition of Franklin Pierce School District buses to electric. CEL is also partnering with Energy Northwest, another Commerce Clean Energy Fund award winner, to help complete and investigate a design for efficient grid-interactive buildings for multiple school districts. Both of these projects are consistent with Community Energy Lab’s vision of enabling communities to affordably decarbonize by 2030.

Along with these impactful partnerships, Founder and CEO of Community Energy Labs, Tanya Barham, was selected to be a part of the Women in Climate Tech International Task Force for Equity in Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TECFD) Team. The team is composed of energy, sustainability, and resilience analysts, experts, and researchers whose goal is to create equity in financial disclosures relating to climate. • Use enhanced disclosure to improve the understanding of the connection between gender equity and climate change
  • Emphasize the possible risks of net-zero and the gender equity resilience commitments
  • Display the solutions to addressing climate change and the opportunities from addressing gender inequity
