Thermal batteries support national security with reliable power, long shelf life, and resilience to harsh conditions. A Pathfinder Network Community sought to address supply chain vulnerabilities, cost challenges, and cross-sector innovation in thermal battery materials. They aimed to identify alternative sources, cost-effective substitutes, and overlapping applications across industries to enhance resilience, affordability, and commercialization opportunities.
Results
In two weeks, we identified and analyzed thermal battery materials and salt. Evaluated the alternative industries that use materials with similar chemical properties and characteristics.
